Diving back under the water was just as eerie as before, I wasn’t sure I was ever going to get over that. Hades heard me gasp and pulled me tighter to him, as if protecting me.  I wanted to smile at how sweet he was being. When the chariot touched down there was STYX and a servant waiting to take our things. Again, Hades cradled me in his arms and held me close so as to keep me away from the horses.  Gently he set me down in the boat and waited as the servant finished putting the trunks in, then followed him inside, standing in front of STYX at the bow.  I sat at the back, alone, feeling stupid.  It took my new husband a moment to realize where I was.  “Are you sitting back there on purpose?”  He asked sarcastically.
I shook my head, not really knowing what he wanted me to do.  “Come here.”  He held out his hand and leaned forward for me to take it.  The moment our hands were touching, he launched me in the air.  I flew over the servant in landed right next to Hades.  “I know you’re stronger than me, but you don’t have to show off.”  I said quietly, resting my head on his shoulder.  Hades stiffened at my show of affection. “Oh, sorry.”  I picked my head up and moved away slightly.  “No, I just wasn’t expecting it.”  He murmured. I still kept my head upright; the awkwardness was a little too heavy right then.  The rest of the trip was pretty much silent, well, except for the occasional soul trying to scratch at the boat. The noise didn’t bother me as much when we had left and I found myself scanning through the sea of souls, just to look and observe.
I could see different facial expressions, only a very few reading peace and silence.  Most seemed tortured and tired; others were angry and hateful.  I took into account that most, if not all, who were soldiers were angry.  Blood was splattered over their faces and they seemed to be the most animated and desperate to get into the boat. I guess Hades caught me looking through the river.  “I’ve never had someone who willingly looked into the River Styx.  Dare I say it, you look intrigued.” I blushed and looked away quickly.  “I-They’re just different.”  I replied and kept my eyes forward for the rest of the trip. Sophia was waiting on the other side of the river for us, a robe in her hands. “What is she doing?”  I asked Hades. “Greeting you.  I want my Queen to be treated as one, even if it has to be down here instead of where she really wants to be.”  He said. I turned and looked into his eyes, which were starting to turn black again.
“Who ever said this isn’t where I wanted to be?” I asked, trying to make him feel better.  Instantly I could feel his heart begin to flutter.  He said nothing else, but he looked away and I could have sworn that his cheeks were pink from a blush. Sophia was smiling brightly as Hades jumped out and helped me down gently. “Your Majesty. I brought you a robe if you were cold.”  She presented the lovely champagne fabric.  “No, Sophia, that’s okay. Take my trunk back to the room though, and leave the smaller one on the bed.”  She nodded and left quickly, two trunks being tugged along behind her by two other servants.  “You seem to be comfortable with ordering people around like a Queen.”  Hades chuckled.  “Excuse me, I am the daughter of a major goddess, disobeying me on Olympus was almost taboo.”  I scoffed jokingly.  “Almost?”  He asked.
“There was one incident when I asked someone to do something for me and they refused.”  I turned away.  “Tell Aphrodite to shove it?”  He asked a tease in his voice. “No, but that would have been funny.” There was a small silence at the joke between us.  We were both becoming comfortable and it scared the holy shit out of me. Hades turned his back to me and walked to the table that was next to his throne. “I wanted to show you this. I had them finish it while we were gone.” He beckoned me forward. “I wanted it done earlier, but it was hard to figure out what you would want.”  He pulled back a curtain that was next to his throne and I gasped.
A lovely chair completely rooted to the ground with a cathedral style back sat in front of me. There were no skulls like Hades’ had, but instead were jewels.  Not tacky jewels, mind you, but the chair almost glittered with the shine of every diamond, ruby, emerald and sapphire I had ever seen. The cushion was black velvet, but oh so comfy. I looked to him and he nodded towards it. “That’s mine?” I asked and pointed to the beautiful throne. He nodded and held his hand out the help me up.  Absent mindedly I took it and walked forward.  “It’s lovely.” I whispered and turned to sit down. I let go of his hand and rubbed the arms. The cushion was just as nice as it looked and just as soft.  “Thank you. I love it.”  I said and looked back to him.  He was leaning over me, he was standing in front but his hand was above my head, towering above me.
“I thought you would like it. I wanted to surprise you at a better time, but I’m meeting the Moira’s again tomorrow and I would love it if you joined me.”  He asked.  My heart and breath stopped, my mind went back to that terrible meeting with those even worse women. “I-I don’t know.”  I stopped and stood, backing away from the throne.  “I’ve asked that they not terrorize you like last time.  They might be a little mischievous, but they really are brilliant and smart women.” He reassured me.  “I don’t know, I really don’t want to ever see them again.”  I shook my head. “Please Persephone.”
Him saying my name stopped me dead. They way he had pleaded with me suddenly made him seem, for lack of a better word, human. “I-Okay.”  I finally gave in. A real smile spread across his face, not big mind you, but a real genuine smile. I smiled myself at the wonderful sight. “Well, I’ll let you get back to your rooms. You wouldn’t mind joining me for dinner would you?” I shook my head. “No, not at all.  Where do you eat?”  I asked suddenly realized I had never seen a formal dining room yet. “I’ll come and get you in a few hours. Don’t worry, I’ll send Julepia ahead so I don’t catch you off guard.  I have to run now. There seems to have been a problem while we were away.”  I was still sitting when he turned to leave. Hades stopped suddenly and turned back to me. I was about to ask him what he forgot when he leaned in and kissed my cheek ever so lightly and then left quickly.
I know my whole face went red and a huge smile broke out on my face as I touched the cheek he had just graced with his lips. Sophia was just walking back in as Hades left through another entry way and saw me, absolutely silly with my red cheeks and stunned expression. “Are you alright Your Holiness?” she asked kindly. I turned me head and kept smiling. “Oh? Certainly.” I shook the blush away. “Yes, I’m quite all right. I’ll take a bath now. If you wouldn’t mind running ahead and get it going for me?” I asked. Sophia nodded kindly and bustled off. I pretty much knew my way back to my rooms by now, so I didn’t need her help. I continued to sit on my new throne, I say new as if I had one before that, and thought about what just happened. Hades was showing affection, real honest to God affection.  The funny part was, I felt like showing it back. I giggled slightly to myself and stood to follow in Sophia’s direction when I stopped. There was STYX, still wading at the edge of the Throne Room. His black hooded head looked up and gazed in my direction for the longest time.
I was alone in the Throne Room, no one would know I would have attempted to run again, no one would stop me and from what STYX had just seen, I had power now. I stood there and the first thought that came to my mind was “Barely a week ago I would have run to that boat and jumped in, grabbing the oar and rowed myself back.” My shoulders straightened when the second thought raced through. “But that wasn’t a week ago, and I wasn’t falling in love with Hades.” I smiled to myself, nodded to STYX and left the Throne Room, never looking back.
I know this one's a little short, but I liked starting and ending it where they do. We're starting to see a change in not only Persephone, our main heroine, but it the antagonist almost turned protagonist, Hades.
WOOT FOR SEXY HADES!!

good chapter.... like the part where hades is startled by her placing her head on his shoulder. I thought it was sweet that she showed her feelings for him and a little sad that he didn't really know how to respond to it. looking forward to the next chapter
